Obituary of Syble Cylesta Newton

Mrs. Syble Cylesta Newton, age 87, longtime resident of San Augustine, passed from this life early Thursday morning, December 11, 2014, in San Augustine. Syble was born to Georgia Melissa (Weeks) Andrews and Harvey Iverson Andrews on July 12, 1927, in Ozark, Alabama. She was a homemaker and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary; Her greatest accomplishments were as a wife and mother. She loved taking care of her family and her home, whether it was cooking, cleaning, sewing or working her flowers and garden. She was a volunteer for Twin Lakes Care Center; a faithful member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church where she served as a worker in Vacation Bible School, and in the Ladies Sunday School Class, and on the Hospitality Committee. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Alvin V. Newton of San Augustine; Her Daughters, Betty Chambers and her husband, Lane of San Augustine; and Brenda McCurry of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Sons, Gregory C. Newton and his wife, Angela of Martinsville; Alvin K. Newton and his wife, Ruth Ann of Beaumont; Her beloved grandchildren, Michael McCurry and his wife, Jennifer; Stephanie and Donald Poe; Jon Robert & Cat Newton; Jenny Newton Lamb; Crystal and Chad Allen; Clint and Brandy Chambers; Jonathan Newton; Stuart and Brenna Newton; Taylor Newton and Brooke Newton; Great-grandchildren; Lindsay Roberts; Drew; Karrie and Zach McCurry; Katelynn Walker; Jackson and Jeffery Newton; Austin Newton; Nicole Lamb; Breanna Chambers and Shane; Molly and McKinley Allen; Great-great grandchildren, Hailey and Mattison Roberts; Sister, Rachael Mitchell and her husband, Howard of San Augustine, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harvey and Georgia Andrews; Brothers, James Andrews and Loy Kohatha Andrews; Sister, Voncile Newton and Son-in-law, Bill McCurry. Pallbearers will include, Michael McCurry; Jonathan Newton; Jon Robert Newton; Stuart Newton; Clint Chambers and Taylor Newton. Honorary Pallbearers will include, Lane Chambers, Gary Andrews, and John Stine. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2014, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Frank Holrath officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Memorial Garden. Visitation will be Saturday evening, December 13, 2014, from the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine, Texas.
