Obituary of Vernell Hughes Keller

Mrs. Vernell Hughes Keller, 84, of San Augustine, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 5, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center in San Augustine. Vernell was born to Martha (Griffith) Hughes and Manuel Hughes on June 22, 1926, in Damascus, Arkansas. She married Lee Roy Keller on August 7, 1943. She a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and a loving friend to all of whom she had acquaintances. Vernell was a Pentecostal Preacher. She served as Assistant Pastor to the former Pastor of First Pentecostal Church of San Augustine, Audrey Robinson for over 25 years. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, with interment following in the Old Sardis Cemetery in San Augustine County. Bro. Michael Dickerson will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday evening, October 7, 2010, from the hours of 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 West Columbia St., San Augustine. Her survivors include: Son and Daughter-in-Law: Grady Keller and his wife, Sherrie of Broaddus; Daughters and Son-in-law: Wanda Giffen and her husband, Rod Giffen of Haughton, Lousiana; Janice Miller of San Augustine; Son-in-Law: Durwood Hooper and his wife, Shirley Hooper of San Augustine. 6 Grandchildren, 7 great grandchilden, and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by 3 nephews, 6 neices, a Sister-in-law: Irene Hughes, and a host of friends and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Keller, and a daughter, Martha Hooper. Pallbearers will be Jeff Hooper, Jared Miller, Cody Miller, Stacy Hooper, Brian Hooper and Clay Pickard
