Obituary of Michael Lewis Wendel

Funeral Services for Michael Lewis Wendel, age 66, of San Augustine, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, in the First Baptist Church, in Broaddus, 207 Buchanan Street, in Broaddus, Texas with Dr. W. Wayne Barth officiating.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, at First Baptist Church in Broaddus, with burial following in the Pickard Cemetery in San Augustine County, Texas.  

Michael Lewis Wendel was born to the late Edna (Willett) Wendel and Leo Wendel on January 9, 1953, in the Island of Guam, located in the Southern Pacific Ocean, while his parents were stationed on a military base, and passed from this life on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, in San Augustine County, Texas.   Later in life, he married the love his life, Debra Lynn (Mills) Wendel and retired after many years of working for the Deep East Texas Electric Coop as a diesel mechanic in San Augustine.  He dearly loved his beloved wife, children, and his grandchildren and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Broaddus.

Those left to cherish his memories include, his beloved wife, Debra Wendel of San Augustine; his sweet daughters, Tina (Wendel) Morris and her husband, Joush of Rosevine; Gina Wendel Iribarren and her husband, Rafael of San Augustine; his beloved grandchildren, Hannah Miller and her husband, Dillon of San Augustine; Savannah Lout of Rosevine; Zachary Verhalen and his wife, Kayla of Center;  Annah Morris of Rosevine; Brayden Morris of Rosevine and Mia Iribarren San Augustine; his great-grandchildren, Jay and Jet Miller of San Augustine; his beloved mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ernest and Eleanor Mills of San Augustine and a sweet aunt, Mattie Guthrie of Lake Jackson.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Leo and Edna Wendel; great-granddaughters, Adalynn and Madalynn Miller; brother, Henry Wendel, and sister, Sheila Malinasky.
