Obituary of Maurine Mitchell
Funeral Services for Ruby Maurine (Pike) Mitchell, age 90, of San Augustine, will be held graveside at Macune Cemetery, Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Gerald Sowell and J. B. Nash officiating. Visitation will be from the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, April 8, 2019, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, located at 316 West Columbia in San Augustine.
Maurine was born February 28, 1929, in the Norwood Community of San Augustine County Texas, to the late Emory Pike and Estelle (Bly) Pike. A 1946 graduate of Broaddus High School she then attended Elliott's Business College in Beaumont, Texas. She worked at the First National Bank of San Augustine for 30 years and then for 17 years at the San Augustine Independent School District. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in San Augustine.
Left to cherish her memory include daughter Sandra M. Akin and husband Craig of Tyler, Texas; Grandsons Nicholas Akin and wife Traci of Burleson, Texas; Heath Akin and wife Suzanne of Edom, Texas; great-grandson Colton R. Akin; Brother L. R. Pike
She was preceded in death by parents Emory & Estelle Pike; Husband Arthur L. Mitchell; Daughter Cynthia Mitchell; Brothers Albert Pike, Jamie Pike; Sister Betty Pike Sowell
Pallbearers include Nick Akin, Heath Akin, Randy Michalec, Jeff Akin, Colton Akin, Scott Hook
